Demetria Kalodimos is an American journalist who is best known for being an anchor at WSMV-TV, an MBC affiliate in Nashville. She is an Emmy Award-winning journalist who has covered several news as a part of her long term profession.
She used to appear at 6 and 10 p.m. on weeknight broadcasts. For more than 30 years, Demetria served and was the longest-serving anchor at WSMV. One of Nashville’s most respected news anchors, Kalodimos, sued WSMV in 2018 for discrimination based on age and gender. The lawsuit was settled in January 2020.

Since 2008, Kalodimos has been in a marital relationship with, Verlon Thompson. Verlon is a popular country singer, guitarist, and songwriter. The pair dated for eight years before tying their wedding knot on October 11, 2008. At Thompson’s cabin in Fernvale, Tennessee, their wedding ceremony took place.

In an interview, the TV anchor admitted that she fell in love with Thompson immediately upon seeing him for the first time. She was fascinated by his national accent and his talent for music. Kalodimos chatted up with Verlon in the music club corridor, asking for a soup date.
The pair are still very fond of each other even after spending many years together. When asked in an interview, the reporters say,
We are from totally different geographical places, but … as you live together and grow together, we’re very much alike in a lot of different ways.”
Demetria and Verlon work together on many projects and have collaborated. In 2017, they produced a ‘Barnegie Hall’ TV interview/performance songwriters’ series that premiered on PBS stations.
Her Past Relationships
Demetria was previously in a marital relationship with her partner James Mauries. Up until their divorce in 1997, they were together for 13 years. Demetria was sued for divorce by James, alleging she threatened to kill him if he abandoned her. He also alleged that after he moved out of their joint home, she attempted to physically attack him.
Kalodimos received a restraining order after their split and was barred from harassing, assaulting, or threatening Mauries. As for the divorce settlement, James named a house in Granny White Pike, Tennessee, for his ex-wife.
