Early Life & Education
Didrik Solli-Tangen came to this world to make this world musical on 11 June 1987 in Porsgrunn, Telemark County, Norway. His father and mother’s name is still unknown to the world but the audience is curious about that. Music was in his vein. He was crazy about music since his childhood. Didrik Solli-Tangen comes from a very musical talented home. His father suggested him to take a step in music. So, he started taking singing lessons.
To make his vision of music come into reality, in 2004 he started to take lessons with Anders Vangen and they have done a lot of concerts together. Anders Vangen was so co-operative and kind that it was helpful for Didrik to inhale music inside him. In the beginning, he could not accept try singing in an operatic style, weighing it old fashioned, he opened slowly to admit the idea. And plus point is that he was able to adapt it smoothly.
By 2011, Didrik is a full-time student at the Barratt Due Institute of doing arts in Oslo. He’s named “the opera singer” by plural Norwegian media, however, he is not ready to accept that tag. Before that, his TV debut was under the annual Norwegian tv-charity, where he showed Torna a Surriento. He also loves his audience. He has traveled in The USA, New York Opera Society and displayed for audiences in Chicago and Washington. And it was Stockholm-based songwriter Hanne Sørvaag and composer Fredrik Kempe who wrote for him My Heart Is Yours, for the 2010 national Eurovision selection in 2009.
The same year on February 6, Didrik earned the national final at Oslo Spektrum, reserving the right to express Norway in Eurovision 2010. Eventually, Didrik sang “My heart is yours” written by Kempe and Sørvaag in the Norwegian final of Eurovision song contest 2010. Being the host country representative, he passed straight to the final, in which he performed in the third position. At the end of the voting, he ranked 20 out of 25 contestants.
His debut album, called “Guilty Pleasures“, was on 1 November 2010. The debut album includes 11 songs in the pop/ballad genre and contains the hit singles “My Heart Is Yours”. The songs are written by Diane Warren, Silje Nergaard, John Mayer, Hanne Sørvaag, Fredrik Kempe, Laila Samuels, Kim Edward Bergseth, Aleksander Rybak and Didrik himself. On 3 September 2010 Solli-Tangen second single “Best Kept Secret” was recorded on the record label Universal Records. Didrik recorded his single “Without You” on June 23, 2013, and “Six Ribbons” on October 4, 2013. Didrik released his second album “The Journey” November 18, 2013. In this way, he was able to polish his career.
