Eddie Van Halen was born as Edward Lodewijk van Halen on January 26, 1955, in Amsterdam, Netherland. Van Halen holds an American-Dutch nationality and belongs to white ethnicity. He was born to Jan van Halen and Eugenia. Eddie was raised in Nijmegan, Netherland along with his brother Alex Van Halen.
Halen and his brother became naturalized U.S. citizens. Moreover, he enrolled at Hamilton Elementary School in Pasadena.

Died at the age of 65
Back on October 6, 2020, Eddie died after a long battle of cancer. Halen struggled with alcoholism and drug abuse. He started drinking and smoking from the age of 12 and he said that he eventually needed alcohol to live. In 2007, he went to rehabilitation and later he said that he had been sober since 2008.
In addition, Van Halen underwent hip replacement surgery in 1999, after his chronic avascular necrosis, with which he was diagnosed in 1995, became intolerable, suffering from lingering injuries from previous high-risk, acrobatic stage performances and crashes.
