Freddie Highmore was born on 14 February 1992 in Camden Town, London. His mother is Sue Latimer, a talent agent, and his father, Edward Highmore, an actor. He is the older brother of Bertie Highmore. Moreover, his family used to live in Highgate, North London.

Highmore got his primary education from Hampstead Garden Suburb near Golders Green in the London Borough of Barnet. Later, he got a scholarship to attend an independent school, Highgate School, pursued by Emmanuel College, Cambridge.
