Sam Champion puts her first step on earth on August 13, 1961, in Paducah, Kentucky, United States. He has one sibling named sister Teresa. Sam is of Caucasian ethnicity and holds an American nationality. He was born as Samuel James Champion to father James H. Champion and mother Sylvia Champion.

Regarding his education, he received his formal education from Fairfax High School. He was also able to complete his high school graduation from there and he graduated in 1979.
Later on, he attended Eastern Kentucky University and he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast news.
