Born on 12th November 1954, in Japan, Deborah Knapp was raised in San Antonio. Her father was in the Air Force, so her family moved numerous times in the 60s. Since her childhood, Deborah had a keen interest towards journalism field. At the age of 14, she aimed to be a reporter when she took a creative writing class at MacArthur High School here in San Antonio.

Furthermore, Deborah appeared in a 1975 movie The Great Waldo Pepper, opposite Robert Redford where she portrayed the role of farmer’s daughter.

Upon her degree in journalism from the University of Texas in Austin, Deborah started her broadcasting career in San Antonio. In 1980 she joined the CBS owned and operated a station in Philadelphia, WCAU-TV. While there, she earned an Emmy Award for Best Television News Anchor.

Since 1987, Deborah has been serving for KENS 5. Currently, she co-anchors KENS 5 Eyewitness News at 5 p.m. Furthermore, she regularly covers religion in special reports.
