He graduated from the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, now known as New York-Presbyterian / Weill Cornell Medicine. Soon after graduation, he joined the National Institutes of Health as a clinical associate in the Laboratory of Clinical Investigation at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
