Somerville was born on 24 February 1974 and raised in the Brooklyn borough of New York City. She began acting and singing at an early age, performing in high school plays at Poly Prep Country Day School in Bay Ridge in Brooklyn. Somerville studied at Boston College as a Musical Theater as a major subject and returned upon completing her Education to try acting professionally.
