James attended the high school in Staten Island. After that, he joined Johns Hopkins University with a major in political science and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from there. Later, Rosen joined Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism earned his master’s degree in journalism.

After the completion of his graduation, Rosen started his career as a producer in the NY1, a television channel in New York.
