Lark Voorhies was born to her American parents, Wayne Holloway (father) and Tricia Holloway (mother). Her mother put her name to be Lark after Margaret Avery played the character in the 1972 film, Cool Breeze. When she was at the age of two, her parents surprised by her natural-born talents. At the age of 12, Lark made her appearance in a national TV commercial for Universal Studios Tour that later led her to appear in an advertisement for the King Kong attraction. When she asked about the moment, she said:

I was on this tram screaming with all these other people. I had such a great time doing that.
