McConaughey was born to his mother, Mary Kathlene McCabe, a teacher and father, James Donald McConaughey, businessperson and grew up with his siblings Pat McConaughey and Matthew McConaughey. His father passed away on 17th August 1992, Fort Bend County, Texas, United States.

At the age of 12, McConaughey started helping his father in doing wildlife work in the Texas oil field. There he picked up his first knowledge about oil field, oil piped, and everything else related to that outlet. Rooster went to Stephen F.Austin University to become a wildlife conservationist.

Thereafter, he joined the University of Texas to study sociology but he didn’t finish it because he was not really interested in schooling.

He then married Georganne Hurt in on October 6, 1984, and. The duo is lives a blissful life with their two children Miller Lyte and Margarita Olympia McConaughey. During an interview with the Foxnews on 24 January 2018, he opened up his reason for naming his child as Miller. He disclosed a bunch of Miller Lite beer he used to drink. So he finally gave his son the name of a beer.
