Ji started his career from musical theater. He made his onscreen debut in the 2006 movie, Days and had a small role in the 2008 television drama You Stole My Heart. Later, he just officially debuted in the 2008 film Sleeping Beauty.

In 2009, Wook emerged in My Too Perfect Sons, performing the role of timid. The weekend family drama got 40% ratings. He then had a promoting character in the action-comedy Hero.

Also, Chang-Wook cast in his period comedy starring performance in the 159-episode everyday drama Smile Again. Furthermore, in 2010, he practiced 4 to 5 hours for the performance of a Korean-American short track speed skater.

Similarly, Chang acted the titular character in 2011 action historical drama Warrior Baek Dong-soo 2011. The series was number one in its time’s lot for 13 weeks, and Ji-won a New Star Award at the SBS Drama Awards.
