Moorer graduated from The University of South Alabama in Mobile in 1993 and then moved to Nashville, Tennessee without even completing her diploma to join her sister, singer/songwriter Shelby Lynne.

Her sister Shelby Lynne had already released three albums by the times she moved with her sister. Allison began singing backgrounds in Lynne’s band full time and toured extensively with her sister.
