Ann Quindlen was born on 8th July 1952, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvanian, the daughter of Prudence (nee Pantano, 1928–1972) and Robert Quindlen. She is of Cancer by her birth-sign. From a young age, she was passionate about writing.

She holds an American nationality and belongs to white ethnicity. Her mother was Italian American while her father was an Irish American. She completed her elementary education from South Brunswick High School and went to Barnard College, graduated in 1974.

Career and Books

As a reporter, Anna commenced in the field of Journalism in 1974 with New York Post. In 1995, she quit Journalism field to became a full-time novelistFollowing that, she has written nine novels named Object Lessons (1991), One True Thing (1994), Black and Blue (1998), Blessings (2002), Rise and Shine (2006), Every Last One: A Novel (2010), Still Life with Bread Crumbs (2013), Miller’s Valley (2016), and Alternate Side (2018).

Quindlen’s two novels One True Thing and Black and Blue which converted into movies. Most of her personal writing centers on her mother. When Anna was just 19, her mother died at the age of 40 from ovarian cancer.

Her semi-autobiographical novel One True Thing was based on her real life where her mother died from cancer in her 40s from Cancer. Similarly, a film of the same name released in 1998, starred Meryl Streep who was nominated for Academy Award for Best Actress.
