Charles Osgood is an American radio and television commentator and writer. He is the host of the daily program named The Osgood File which has been broadcasted on the CBS Network.

Osgood is also most known for his voice contribution as the narrator of an animated movie entitled Horton Hears A Who released in 2008. Further, he has also written a memoir of his boyhood.

Early Life and Education

Charles Osgood Wood aka Charles Osgood was born on January 8, 1933, in New York, the U.S.  Charles holds the American nationality and belongs to White American ethnicity. When he was a child he shifted to the Liberty Heights in Maryland.

The talented radio and TV commentator, Charles Osgood attended St. Cecilia High School in New Jersey and later on joined Fordham University with a bachelor of science degree in economics.

Career

The proficient commentator, Charles Osgood volunteered at the university’s FM campus radio station named WFUV when he was enrolled at Fordham. He played piano between his shows and is interested in it.

After completing his graduation he was also hired as an announcer by WGMS and WGMS-FM, one of the popular classical music station. Afterward, he was listed in the military to be an announcer for the United States Army Band.

Later after completing his tour with the U.S. Army Band he returned to WGMS full-time as an announcer and before the end of WGMS promoted him to the program director.

In 1962, the parent of WGMS, RKO General, transferred Osgood to Hartford. He was promoted to his first job in television: the general manager of Channel 18, WHCT. The channel was the first TV station in the U.S. to be licensed to use Phonevision, a system which was developed by Zenith.

Additionally, Osgood served as an anchor and reporter for WCBS. In 1967 he anchored the first-morning shift for WCBS. Moreover,  he is also the host of the Westwood One’s The Osgood File. He is the writer of syndicated newspaper column which is published twice in a week.

He has also authorized several books including See You on the Radio, Nothing Could Be Finer Than a Crisis That Is Minor in the Morning, Holt, Rineheart & Winston, The Osgood Files and Putnam’s Sons 1991 and 1999.

The renowned American TV commentator, Charles Osgood is a happily married man. He is married to his longtime girlfriend, Jean. The couple is blessed with five children together named Kathleen, Winston, Anne-E, Jamie and Emily J.
