Early Life of Doon Mackichan
Doon Mackichan was born to her British parents in the cocktail bar of Lanesborough Hotel in Westminster, London, England. The England citizen, Doon spent her early life with her family in Sunningdale, Surrey. Later, she moved to Scotland and grew up on a farm.
After shifting to Fife, Doon soon found her interest in comedy and acting. When she asked about her childhood and education, she explained:
I had such a posh English accent compared to the rest of my classmates. For the first few years, I had a really horrible time. I languished away in a bottom stream of this state school in St Andrews and just kept my mouth shut.
Doon also mentioned that she developed a Scottish accent pretty quickly. Later, she explained how her accent helped her to step up in her acting career.
At the beginning of her career, Doon Mackichan went to Manchester University and studied drama. She first did stand-up comedy in pubs. Eventually, she landed with a role in a TV show titled Wake Up London. She made her Tv debut from the Channel 4’s TV series, Five Alive alongside Peter Piper, Joanna Brookes, and Andrew Secombe. She then wrote Smack the Pony, a Channel 4 comedy series.
Following, Doon made her appearances in the sitcoms, Beast, Bedtime, Knowing Me, Knowing You… with Alan Partridge. In the 1997 film, The Borrowers, she played the role of Victoria Lender.
