Ira Joe Fisher was born on October 31, 1947, in Salamanca, New York, USA. He was born under the sun sign of Scorpio. There is not much information about his parents and siblings but he spent most of his childhood in Cattaraugus County.
Ira Joe completed his schooling from Little Valley Central High School in 1965. After that, for his college education, he went to the State University of New York at Fredonia. But he did not complete his education and he went for a four-year stint in the air force.
Later he graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Drama and Russian. Ira also completed his Masters of Fine Arts from New England College. He is currently 71-years-old and stands tall at a height of 6 feet 1 inch.

After graduating from Syracuse University, he worked as a Russian translator for Air Force. Later, Ira started working at WGGO-TV and in 1970 he moved to Washington to work with KHQ-TV. He started as a reporter and later hosted The Noon Show.
After 10 years where he also served as a weatherman, he left the show and joined WKRC-TV in Ohio. He was there for three years and served as a weather reporter and also hosted PM Magazine. Ira left the show and worked at WABC for two years where he Worked on Live with Regis and Kathie Lee.
He moved on from there and returned to WKRC-TV hosting the show The Ira Joe Fisher Show and won two Emmy awards. Ira went back to serve as a weather anchor for WCBS and left in 2003 joining CBS. At CBS, he hosted Saturday Early Show and a voiceover artist for CBS Morning News and The Early Show.

In his later years after quitting television career, he started writing poets and started teaching college students. He joined a college as a professor and started educating students. Ira also published three works of his poetry titled Remembering Rew, Some Holy Weight in the Village Air, and Songs from an Earlier Century.
Fisher has taught poetry in some of the top colleges and University like the University of Connecticut, New England College, Pace University, and Mercy College.
