So long to the handsome square-jawed Jan-Michael Vincent (who died on February 10, 2019, after suffering a cardiac arrest at a North Carolina hospital. He was 74). • He was spotted by a talent scout whilst working for the National Guard; his All-American good looks were quick to make an impression as rebellious young men challenging the system. He made his debut in ''The'' Hardy Boys: The Mystery of the Chinese Junk (1967), followed by ''Journey to Shiloh''(1968). The same year he headlined in the Hanna-Barbara children’s TV show, ''The Banana Splits Adventure Hour'' (1968). • It was during the 1970s that he came into his own, making his first impression in the TV movie ''The Tribe'' (1970) with Darren McGavin, followed by ''The Mechanic'' (1972) as the smirking apprentice hit-man, opposite Charles Bronson; and as the rebellious Carol Jo Hummer battling corruption in ''White Line Fever'' (1975). • His other films include: ''Vigilante Force'' (1976), ''Baby Blue Marine'' (1976) and the ultimate seventies surf movie, ''Big Wednesday'' (1978) with Gary Buddy and William Katt. • During the early 80s, his career was given its biggest boost yet when cast as Stringfellow Hawke in the helicopter action series ''Airwolf'' (1983-86), co-starring veteran actor Ernest Borgnine. The show earned him a cool $200,000 per episode, making him the highest paid actor at the time. • At the height of his fame he admitted to issues with drugs and alcohol – abuse which reportedly contributed to the cancellation of the hit CBS series. • His subsequent work did little to compare with his earlier screen highlights. What mostly followed was a string of minor z-grade crime action or sci-fi flicks. • In 1996, he broke three vertebrae in his neck and sustained a permanent injury to his vocal cords that left him with a permanently raspy voice. He made his final film, ''White Boy'', in 2002. • In 2012, He had to have the lower half of his right leg amputated due to an infection he contracted due to complications from peripheral artery disease. He was married three times. • • #iusedtobeinpictures #janmichaelvincent #airwolf #actor #pinup #handsome #shirtlessguys #bigwednesday #rip2019
