Early Life

Jim Thurber was born on June 13, 1963, in Boring Oregon, Clackamas County,  United States. He belongs to a dedicated Christian background. Jim graduated from high school in Centennial high school in 1978 with the yearly grad book. He was very fond of motocross racing from his youth days and continued following until now. In an interview, he mentioned that he wants to die riding bikes.

Although, he never competed in the race Jim motocross was motivated just by his passion. He doesn’t come from a well-off family Jim worked in various jobs in his youth days.

Married Man

Jim is considered a tough man by his colleagues but when it comes to his family he gets weak. He is a married man and blessed with two children. Jim married his long-time girlfriend Cynthia Slauson. The couple tied the knot on the 19th of April, 1991. They were high school buddies before marrying.

Additionally, Jim and Cynthia are blessed with two children a son named Nathan Thurber and a daughter, Breanne Thurber. His son is now a graduate in Business Informative System (BIS) while his daughter is associated with medical assisting. Jim is very fond of his family and leaves no chance of compromising with their happiness. As of now, the family is living happily in their house based in Clackamas County, Oregon.

Rise to fame

As we have already mentioned about how Jim had to do different jobs in order to sustain. Before featuring in the Discovery show Gold rush he worked as Saftey officer in the camp. Likewise, Jim’s regular Job was a fisherman which he did for over 30 years.

Alongside he worked in po*no films,” Rockwell” and ”Dick Damage so as to run his family. He used to work as a volunteer in one of the veteran organizations named “Home with heroes.” At one time his financial condition was so critical that he could not pay the mortgage of the house.

However, things started to change after Jim joined Hoffman’s crew in the show, Gold Rush. In the beginning, Jim had no idea of gold mining but because of his ability to be a fast learner, he slowly and steadily succeeded in thriving a master’s in mining staff. He became a star of the show because of his ability and courage.
