Filmmaking for John was not always in his radar. At the beginning of his career, John worked as a dry cleaner and journalist. Later, at Southern Television in Southampton John took the chance of making a TV Documentary.

David Deutsch, a producer gave Boorman a chance to direct a film after watching his documentary. Deutsch hoped for repeating the success of A Hard Day’s Night and Catch us if you can.
