A ten-year National League veteran, John Tice is the third-round choice of the Saints in the 1983 NFL Draft. John Tice’s Bio, Age, and Career

Bayshore, New York, native John Tice was born on 22nd June 1960, as John Kevin Tice. His star sign is Cancer. As per nationality, Tice is an American and belongs to white ethnicity. His younger brother, Mike Tice is a retired NFL coach who most recently served as the offensive line coach for the NFL’s Oakland Raiders.

Upon high school graduation, Tice enrolled at the Maryland University where he joined the Maryland Terrapins football team. During his senior year, h earned Honorable Mention All-America honors by both The Sporting News and Associated Press. Furthermore, he was ranked the Terrapins leading receiver throughout each of his final two seasons.

Playing Career

In 1983, John Tice was picked 65th in the 3rd round of the NFL Draft by New Orleans Saints. As a professional, he played in overall 134 games at tight end and drew 56 starts.

From 1985 to 1991, Tice missed only three contests. Throughout a four-year stretch from 19851988, he recorded 12 touchdowns, 1,074 yards, and 103 passes.

His most excellent season was 1989 where he recorded a career-high 37 receptions for a career-best 330 yards. The following year, he set another career standard when he pulled down six touchdown receptions.

In 1992, Tice retired from the NFL due to a severe shoulder injury. At the time, he ranked 11th on New Orleans’ game played chart (134) as well as 9th on the Saint’s career receptions list (158). Moreover, Tice concluded his professional career with 15 touchdown receptions and 1,602 receiving yards.

Managerial Career

Upon retirement, Tice served as a volunteer football coach for several high schools in Florida. In 1999, he joined the Minnesota Viking as an offensive assistant. Later a year, he became the club’s tight end coach.

Ultimately, Tice spent seven years on Minnesota’s coach staff. Then he went on to serve under his brother Mike, who was the Viking’s head coach at the time. In 2009, he joined the New York Sentinels of the United Football League (UFL), where he served a year as an offensive line coach.
