Lauren Holly was born Lauren Michael Holly on October 28, 1963, in Bristol, Pennsylvania. As per nationality, she is American citizenship, but she became a citizen of Canada in 2008. She was born to her father, Grant Holly, and mother, Michael Ann Holly.

Her father is a screenwriter and literature professor. At the same time, her mother is an art historian, the Starr Director of the Research and Academic Program at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute. Her mother is also a former professor at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. As of 2023, her age is 59, and stands at the height of 5 feet 4 inches (1.65m).

Lauren has two brothers, Nick, and Alexander Inner Holly. She grew up in Geneva, New York, and finished high school in Geneva, where she was a cheerleader. Later in 1985, she earned an undergraduate degree in English from Sarah Lawrence College in New York.
