When he was a teenager, Mark wanted to be a Major League baseball player, later changed his mind and started his journey some kind of sports broadcaster.

Ibanez attended several schools that include San Rafel High School, Petaluma Senior High School, Santa Rosa Junior College. After completing his elementary education, he grabbed his Journalism degree from the University of Idaho in 1978.

Coming to his career, Ibanez began his career at KXTV in Sacramento. Following this, he went to join the KTVU Channel 2 as a news director. As of now, he covers several Super Bowls, World Series, NBA Champion and many more. Similarly, Mark is currently working as a reporter at KTVU. Moreover, he has been with the KTVU Channel 2 Sports Department for over 34 years, making him as the longest running sports reporter and anchor in the Bay Area.
