I played an intimate gig at the wonderful 14 Pews in Houston a couple of nights ago. I didn't play very well but had a great time anyway. Other than folks who came to the film workshop earlier in the day, there was Bill, who drove 200 miles from San Antonio to see me. We met some years ago during one of my Tokyo tours. He was with the US airforce and a big hearted man. People like Bill make me glad that I had chosen my somewhat unconventional career path – that in a business filled with fakery and chocolate talk – you still meet real folks, full of generosity and love. Teo independently produced a non-partisan, non-profit, multi-artist recording of his anti-racism composition “Here in My Home” in April 2008. Similarly, he released 15 Malaysia-an anthologies of 15 short films themed on social-political issues. The project has become a turning point in Malaysia’s popular and political culture, not only by featuring politicians as cast but also by recording over 15 million visitors in 60 days on its project website.

I wanna introduce you to a friend of mine. Her name is Carly and we met on the set of Ghost In The Shell. As with any action film, the folks who give life to action scenes are stunt people and Carly is one of the best in the business. She not only taught me how to "sell" a hit but also how to keep myself from getting hurt. I could go on about how awesome this lady is but for now it is enough to say that she could kick my ass with both hands tied while eating fried noodles and donut at the same time.
