Phil Hartman

Phil Hartman was an American-Canadian actor, screenwriter, comedian and graphic designer. He portrayed the role of Jean-Michel in the 1986 film Last Resort. He appeared as Phil Fimple in the 1998 film Small Soldiers. In addition, for gained massive fame for his impressions in 1986 NBC sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live.

Hartman was twice divorced until he finally found his true love, Brynn Omdahl. Unfortunately, as a result of his immense love, Hartman had to give up his own life. Yes, he was killed by his wife Brynn in the year 1998. He had two children from his marital relationship.

Phil Hartman was born as Philip Edward Hartmann on September 24, 1948, in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. He is Canadian-American by nationality and belongs to white ethnicity. He is the fourth of eight children of Doris Marguerite and Rupert Loebig Hartman.

Phil moved to the United States along with his family at the age of ten. They lived in Lewiston, Maine then Meriden Connecticut and then West Coast. Moreover, he enrolled at Westchester High School frequently acting as the class clown. Soo after graduation, he studied art at Santa Monica City Colelge, before dropping out in 1969. He later attended California State University, Northridge to study graphic arts.

The Primetime Emmy Award-winning actor started his career in the 1970s where he appeared on an episode of The Dating Game. His voice role credits include in the films like The Smurfs, Challenge of the GoBots, The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo. He has appeared in films like Greedy, Coneheads, Sgt. Bilko, Jingle All the Way, and Kiki’s Delivery Service.

He starred the role of Phil Fimple in the 1998 film Small Soldiers alongside, Kevin Dunn, Denis Leary, and Tommy Lee, Jones. Additionally, he had appeared in numerous television series including Wishbone, Sweet Valley High, Mr Rhodes, Cybill, Days of Our Lives.

As a matter of fact, their marriage had difficulties. His wife was not happy with his success and was frustrated that she couldn’t make it on her own. She was jealous and often verbally and physically abusive. Although the couple never thought about getting a divorce.

Hartman tried to get Brynn acting jobs, but she eventually became more dependent on drugs and alcohol, entering many times into rehabilitation. Together the couple had two children, Sean Hartman and Birgen Hartman.

Past Two Failed Marriages…

Although Hartman had gathered huge success in his professional life, he failed to have a perfect personal life. As said before, the star was married thrice in his life. His first marriage with Gretchen Lewis lasted only for two years. The former couple exchanged their wedding vows in 1970. Unfortunately, their relationship ended just within two years in 1972.

Following their divorce, Phil started dating real estate agent Lisa Strain. The duo tied the knot in the year 1982. Sadly, his second marriage also ended into a divorce after three years. After divorce Lisa aid that,

Hartman was reclusive off-screen and would disappear emotionally…he’d be in his own world. That passivity made you crazy.

His Tragic Demise

Brynn and Hartman had a heated argument on May 27, 1998. His wife entered his bedroom before 3:00 am and shot him first in between gis eyes, then in the throat and lastly in the upper chest with a Charter Arms. 38 caliber handgun as he slept. On May 28, 1998, Phil took his last breath at the age of 49.

Later, Brynn committed whatever she did, and after the police arrived she locked herself in the bedroom. Shortly after, she killed herself by shooting.
