Soon-Tek Oh was born on 29th June 1932 in Mokpo, Japanese Korea (now South Korea). However, he was mistakenly said to have been born in Japan due to his career playing Japanese characters, and Korea was under Japanese rule then. When Oh was a teenager, he emigrated with his family to the U.S. He has a sister named, Onjah.

Oh joined the high school at Gwangju, South Korea, and enrolled at Yonsei University in Seoul, the University of Southern California. Likewise, he later earned a Master of Fine Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles.

He made his acting career debut in 1966, portraying Tempura in Murderers’ Row. Since then, he has appeared in numerous movies, including A Home of Our Own, The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest, The President’s Man, and True Blue. Further, his last film role was Jong-chae in Gang-jerk.

Apart from movies, Oh also appeared in almost 20 T.V. series, including King of the Hill, Highlander: The Series, Diff’rent Strokes, and Baa Baa Black Sheep.

Oh was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008 by the San Diego Asian Film Festival.
