Win McMurry was born on March 12, 1983, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina to parents Jane Hight McMurry and John E. McMurry. As a child, she was raised in Wilmington, North Carolina. She is not only the child of her parents as he has a sister- Allison Louise McMurry.

However, after completing her high school graduation, McMurry enrolled at the University of North Carolina. She completed her graduation with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Communications Studies. Later on, she also earned a Post-Graduate Certificate in Business from the Kenan-Flagler School of Business.
