The international TV personality Zeinab Badawi is a Sudanese British TV and radio journalist. She is the first presenter of the ITV Morning News and was a co-presenter for Channel 4 News with Jon Snow, before joining BBC News.

Zeinab Badawi was born on 24 November 1959, in Sudan. She spent most of her childhood days in London. Badawi is a citizenship holder of Sudan and belongs to the Sudanese descent. She also speaks Arabic, but not fluently.

When she was two years old, Badawi migrated to Britain with her parents. She is the daughter of father, Mohammed Khair El Badawi who used to work as an editor in Sudan newspaper. He was committed to social reform in Sudan. Similarly, her grandfather, Sheikh Banbiker Badri fought against Kitchener’s British forces at the Battle of Omdurman in 1989 and also pioneered women’s education in Sudan.

Being a part of a wealthy family, she didn’t face any sorts of problems. Hence we can say that Zeinab had a good childhood. As she grew up in a successful and educated family, she went to Hornsey High School for Girls in North London and studied Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at Oxford University at St Hilda’s College.

Similarly, she also did her master’s degree in  Politics and Anthropology of the Middle East at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) affiliated to the University of London in 1989 with distinction.
