She is of American nationality and she is of Mixed ethnicity (Both White and Black). She grew up alongside her sisters, Effie Daetz and Ekau Daetz. There is no information about her mother but her father, Denny Daetz is a retired teacher. He taught Social Studies, Economics, and Computer in Los Gatos Saratoga Union High School District. Her father married a woman, Laura Lee Dietz who was a step-mother to Ama, but unfortunately, she passed away on October 23, 2015, due to Car accident.

She has not shared the happy news with her fans yet nor the child pictures but the couple has already has welcomed a baby girl into their house.

Ama Daetz when she was studying, still used to work as a writer, editor, and producer. Right after completing her education she started her career as a reporter anchoring and reporting on news networks. In her starting career, she was a field reporter for CBS station in Texas later she moves in News3 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

She started working at NBC after moving from Michigan to Detroit and then she was hired by Fox News shortly. There, she was an anchor and now she is working as ABC7 News from 2018.
