Her parents raised her in East Lansing, Michigan before shifting to St. Louis, Missouri. Later, she along with her family moved to Georgia where she attended the Brookwood High School. Robach graduated from the University of Georgia.

Initially, Robach participated in 1995 Miss Georgia pageant and stood 4th runner-up. Besides, she worked at WTTG  and later joined MSNBC. In MSNBC, she worked as anchor of Countdown with Keith Olbermann and Morning Joe. In 2007, Amy also anchored Weekend Today.

Amy Robach is married twice. At first, she married her first husband, Tim McIntosh in 1996 in a private ceremony attended by families and friends. The couple shares two children, two daughters Ava (born in 2002) and Analise (born in 2008).

After living together as a family for a long period of time, the couple divorced in 2008. Moreover, Robach remained single for months after the divorce until she found her love, Andrew Shue. Andrew is an actor and a former Melrose Place star. The soap opera starred Brooke Langton, Heather Locklear, and Laura Leighton. The couple met for the first time at a book party and eventually started dating.

Furthermore, the couple engaged in September 2009 and finally tied the knot on 6th February 2010 at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers. Even the couple has no children of them but has three step-sons from her now-husband, Nate (1997) Aidan (1999) and Wyatt (2004).

Besides, Amy revealed that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer in an episode of Good Morning America. As per her, during the surgery, the doctors found another tumor in her other breast and cancer spread to her lymph nodes. Later, she went through several chemotherapies, reconstructive surgeries, and radiations.
