n June of 2017, he sought treatment for his addiction and checked himself in for rehabilitation. He was released two months later. McPartlin was involved in a road traffic collision in London, after arrested on suspicion of drink-driving on 18th March 2018.
On the following day, he met his partner, Donnelly, and ITV and suspended further presenting duties in order to return to rehab for further treatment. On 21st March, he was interviewed under caution and subsequently charged with drink-driving.
McPartlin pleaded guilty to the offense at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court. Later, he was banned from driving for 20 months with a fine $96,306 (£86,000) which was Britain’s highest-ever penalty for drink-driving. In January 2019, McPartlin returned to his television work with his partner, Donnelly at Britain’s Got Talent auditions.
