Benjamin Millepied was born on 10th June 1977, in Bordeaux, France. Millepied has two siblings, older brothers. Although there are no much details about his educational background, his ballet training started at the age of eight with his mother, Catherine Flori, a former ballet dancer.

Benjamin’s father is Denys Millepied. Between the ages of 13 and 16, Millepied studied with Michel Rahn at the Conservatoire National in Lyon, France.

Millepied joined classes at the School of American Ballet (SAB) and returned to study full-time in 1993, with a scholarship from the French Ministry (Bourse Lavoisier or Lavoisier Scholarship) in the summer of 1992.

Early in his career, Millepied was mentored by choreographer Jerome Robbins. At SAB’s in 1994 Spring Workshop, Millepied originated a principal role in Jerome Robbins’ premiere of 2 and 3 Part Inventions and also received the Prix de Lausanne.

From 1995 to 2011 Millepied joined New York City Ballet’s corps de ballet. Then he moved to Los Angeles and worked as a choreographer from 2011. Till date, Millepied is working in Los Angeles. The star has worked in various movies and has a choreographed number of films. Some of Millepied’s honorable works include Octet, Khovanshchina, The Bartered Bride, and so on.
