Braylon Jamel Edwards, commonly known as Braylon Edwards is a retired National Football League (NFL) football wide receiver. The hunk played college football for the University of Michigan, earned unanimous All-American honors, and was known as the top college wide receiver.

Furthermore, Edwards was the very first receiver in Big Ten Conference history to set three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and only the third footballer to do so in NCAA Division I-A. In the 2005 MFL Draft, he was selected by the Cleveland Browns with the third overall pick. He also played for the New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.

Early Life, Parents, Sibling, and Education

Former NLF football wide receiver, Braylon Edwards was born on 21st February 1983, to Stan Edwards and Malesa Plater. His star sign is Pisces. As per nationality, Edwards is an American and is of Afro-American ethnicity.

Edwards has a brother named, Berkley Edwards. For high school, he attended Bishop Gallagher High School. During his three active high School years, he played a variety of positions for his high school football team, recording 63 receptions for 740 yards with eight touchdowns.

In 2001, at the MHSAA track and field championship, Edwards was defeated and had to settle for second in the High Jump to Mike Baysdell. After his high school graduation, he enrolled at the University of Michigan, following his father’s footsteps.

During his senior year in 2004, Edwards set Michigan season records for 1,330 receiving yards, 97 receptions, and career record with 39 touchdowns, 3,541 yards, 252 receptions, a Big Ten record.

Career

In the 2005 NFL Draft, Edwards was picked in the first round (3rd overall) by the Cleveland Browns. On 11th September 2005, he made his NFL debut against the Cincinnati Bengals. Later seven days, he caught his first NFL touchdown at the Green Bay Packers.

Furthermore, Edwards had a breakout season in 2007 where he made his first Pro Bowl. He played overall four seasons for the Browns and then was traded to The New York Jets, where he had his first taste of the post-season in the 2009-10 NFL playoffs. He stayed with the Jets until 2010, recording seven touchdowns and catching 53 passes for 904 yards.

On 4th August 2011, Edwards joined the San Francisco 49ers, signing a one-year deal worth $1 million. Moreover, the contract would have increased to $3.5 million, and Edward recorded a Pro Bowl Season. On 27th December of the same year, he waived by the 49ers without having achieved either of these.

On 31st July 2012, Edward penned a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks. However, he was waived by the Seahawks after five months.

On 11th December 2012, he was claimed off waiver by his former club, the New York Jets. Further, he agreed on a one-year deal with jets for the 2013 season, On 25th July 2013. Edward was waived, on 26th August of the same year.

After Retirement

In the summer of 2017, Edward began working with the Big 10 TV network. What’s more, he was suspended for comments in violation of their media guideline on 3rd September 2018, following his tweet, “Ruiz is weak, the line is weak, she is scared, f**king Michigan offense is so predictable. Michigan football is sadly one thing……Trash.”
