Early Life

Gianna Bryant was born as Gianna Maria Onore Bryant on May 1, 2006, in Los Angeles California. She was the middle child to father Kobe Bryant and mother Vanessa Bryant. Her father was the professional basketball player who played his entire career for Los Angeles Lakers. Likewise, her mother Vanessa Bryant is a former model and Video Vixen. Gianna was blessed with an older sister Natalia Bryant and two younger siblings Bianka Bryant and Capri Bryant.

Similarly, her grandfather Joe Bryant is also a former basketball player and coach of national teams like Japan and Thailand. Her grandmother Pam Bryant is a socialite. Gianna also has two aunts Shaya Bryant and Sharia Bryant who are socialite and businesswomen.

Gianna grew up watching her dad playing basketball and she had a huge interest on sports. She often went to watch her father play in NBA and started growing interest in the game. Eventually, she started playing basketball in her school and trained at Mamba Sports Academy. Moreover, 13 years old Gigi was very close to her dad and adored him growing up. Her father Kobe described her as the lady version of himself due to the same characteristics and personality of him.

Parents Married life

Gianna’s parents Kobe and Vanessa married on April 18, 2001, at St.Edward Catholic church in Dana Point, California. The couple met in November 1999 when Vanessa worked as a background dancer on The Eastsidaz music video ”G’d Up”. At that time Bryant was in the same studio building working on his debut musical album. It was the love at first sight and soon after getting the green flag from Vanessa they started dating and they were engaged within six months in May 2000.

During that time Gianna’s mother was 17 years old, studying at Marina High school at Huntington Beach California. Since she was in her teens she left school and completed her school through independent study. As per Vanessa’s sister Laila Laine, their marriage was so quick that there was no prior legal agreement since Bryant loved Vanessa too much.

However, it was not a completely happy ceremony for the couple since Kobe’s parents were not happy with the decision of their son to marry at such a young age of 21. Moreover, they didn’t attend their wedding ceremony since Vanessa was not African-American. Ultimately, things got smooth after the couple welcomed their first child Natalia in January 2003.

Later the couple was blessed with three more child Gianna Bryant (May 2006). Surprisingly after the birth of the second child, the marriage started to fall and Vanessa filed for divorce. However, things changed after some time and they reunited. Later, they welcomed their child a daughter Bianka Bryant (December 2016 followed by another child Capri Bryant in June 2019.

Death

Bryant’s family faced the most heartbreaking situation on January 26, 2020, after the news came out of helicopter crash which took the life of Gianna and her father. The father-daughter duo along with nine other crews were traveling to the Mamba sports academy to watch Gianna’s match. Her father Kobe was coaching the team for which she was playing.

As per reports, they were about to travel by road but just to avoid the traffic in Los Angeles they decided to go by Giana’s dad’s helicopter. Unfortunately, the pilot lost control due to which it crashed near Calabasas, California. Later, Bryant’s family confirmed the news on Kobe’s twitter which made the headline across all tabloids and news in the world.

Net worth

Gianna was still an amateur basketball player until her death due to which she didn’t yield earning from her early career as a basketball player. She had always had a dream to become a basketball player for which she trained hard with her father aside as a coach. Moreover, she lived a stable and lavish life until her death. All thanks to her father who had a net worth of $600 million. 

Gianna’s dad Kobe Bryant earned the fortune from playing basketball and through endorsement. Her dad was the main reason behind the fame and name of the Bryant family. Kobe earned $25 million annually as a player for Lakers. Likewise, he hit $26 million from endorsement.

Some of the brands endorsed by Kobe include Nintendo, Turkish airlines and Sprite. His biggest endorsement deals were with Nike. Moreover, he secured a deal a long term deal of $10 million with Nike in 2013. According to Forbes, the basketball star was the highest played athlete in the history of sports.
