Jill Halfpenny was born on July 15, 1975, in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, England. She was born to her parents Maureen Mitchelson, her mother, and Colin Halfpenny, her father. Jill grew up alongside her two elder sisters Nicola and Paula. Chelsea Halfpenny is Jill’s niece.

Jill joined St. Edmund Campion Roman Catholic School as she is the native of Leam Lane, Gateshead. Later, she attended Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art ( 1994-1996). Jill took an interest in acting from a very early age.

After completing her course from Webber Douglas, she joined First Act theatre in Gosforth, Newcastle and then to Reavley Theatre in Felling. She is 43 years old and stands tall at a height of 5 feet 4 inches. Jill is of British nationality and belongs to White ethnicity.

Jill started her career at the age of 14 in children’s drama series Byker Grove. It aired on the BBC. She featured in Dalziel and Pascoe, Barbara, and Coronation Street for television and theatre with Hull Truck Theatre Company.

Jill became well-known among the fans when she portrayed Kate Mitchell in the BBC One soap opera EastEnders in 2002. She played a police officer who spied on Phill Mitchell. Though Jill is not a trained dancer, she participated in BBC One ballroom dancing show in 2004.

Jill won Strictly Come Dancing with her professional partner Darren Bennett. They received full 40 marks from the judges. Jill and Bennett performed in the number of stages after that, one being the Royal Variety Performance at the London Coliseum.

Later, they were in competition with season 2 winners and they were crowned the winner. Jill and Bennett became champion of champions. Right after that, She signed the role of Roxie Hart in the Musical, Chicago in January 2005.

Jill appeared in many other TV Shows and theatre productions such as The Bodies, a play adapted from the novel by Peter Flannery Emile Zola. She played the character alongside her then-husband, Craig Conway.

In other shows, she appeared in The sound of Musicals in 2006, in the BBC One series Waterloo Road in 2006 where she played a teacher, Izzie Redpath. Jill won an award for that role. In February of  2008, Jill was pregnant but still played Surviving Spike alongside Michael Barrymore at the Theatre Royal, Windsor.

Jill Halfpenny won awards for her role in Legally Blonde the play as Paulette Bonafonte. She won Theatregoers’ Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical and the Laurence Oliver Award for Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical.

In her career as an actress, she appeared in many other shows and was also a radio broadcaster for BBC Radio 2 alongside Sara Cox.

Jill Halfpenny’s Personal Life

Jill Halfpenny married her co-actor from The Bodies, Craig Conway. The couple married in 2007 and is blessed with one child, a son named Harvey Reece. But the marriage did not last long as the couple divorced in 2010.

Currently, Jill is in a relationship with someone but she has not revealed who that mystery man is. In an interview, Jill said

I’ve downsized my whole wardrobe by about half, which was hugely cathartic. I have a new partner who is very complimentary of both my tomboy look and my glamorous look.
