American actor, Steve Zahn is famous for playing  Jeremy Tanner in 1993 film Rain Without Thunder. He appeared as Lane Bailey in American television series South Beach. Not just that, Zahn is also credited for the television series like From the Earth to the Moon, Mind Games, The Crossing, Modern Family and Monk.

Steve gained massive fame after playing amiable stoners, slackers and sidekicks in the films like That Thing You Do! You’ve Got Mail, and Out of Sight.  Also, he voiced the character Thunderclap in the 2015 animated film The Good Dinosaur.

Steve Zahn was born as Steven James Zahn on November 13, 1967, in Marshall, Minnesota, the United States of America. He is a son of Carleton Edward Zahn, a Lutheran minister and Zelda Clair Zahn, a bookstore clerk who later served as a YMCA administrator.  Zahn holds an American nationality and belongs to mixed ethnicity.

While growing up in Mankato, Minnesota, Steve attended Kennedy Elementary School and moved to the suburbs of Minneapolis for high school. Later, he joined Robbinsdale Cooper High School, graduating in 1986.

Steve Zahn started his career in 1987 from guest appearances in a number of television series. He played Jeremy Tanner in 1993 film Rain Without Thunder. Then he starred a role, Sammy Gray, in 1994 American romantic drama Reality Bites. He is also credited for the films like Forces of Nature, Freak Talks About Sex, Happy Texas,  and The Great Buck Howard.

In 1990, Zahn played the role of Spence in American television series All My Children. He appeared as Ronnie La Fontaine in Modern Family from 2014-2015. He portrayed the role of Richie Kreyman in 2019’s Netflix original Tall Girl, featuring Ava Michelle, Griffin Gluck, Rico Paris, and Sabrina Carpenter.

Together the husband and wife share two children, Henry Zahn(2000) and Audrey(2002). Steve and his wife run a local community theater, where Zahn occasionally performs. The family of four resides in a 360-acre farm outside Lexington, Kentucky, where Steve gardens and raises horses, goats, and sheep.

Zahn is a fan of lifetime military history and said he had turned down a part in the HBO miniseries band of Brothers one of his biggest regrets. In 2007, Northern Kentucky University awarded him an honorary doctorate in fine arts. Zahn, a lover of sports at the University of Kentucky, is often seen at games and events.
