Gavin was born as Gavin Christopher Newson on 10th October 1967, in San Francisco, California, United States. Moreover, his nationality is American and belongs to Irish-Scottish ethnicity. Newsom’s father, William Alfred Newsom III is a state appeals court justice and attorney for Getty Oil and his mother, Tessa Thomas, a homemaker.

Gavin moved to Marin County with his mother and sister after the divorce of his parents when he was only two years old. While there, Newsom revealed that he did not have an easy childhood and attended kindergarten and first grade at the French American bilingual school in San Francisco.

Later, Newsom enrolled at Notre Dame des Victoires where he studied from third to fifth grade. In 1985, he graduated from Redwood High Schooll with scholarship in basketball and baseball. Furthermore, Newsom went to study at Santa Clara University on a partial baseball scholarship, and finished his studies in 1989, holding a B.S. in political science.

Gavin Newsom started his career with a loan to establish a company, PlumpJack Wine Shop in 1991. Furthermore, the business eventually grew to a multi-million dollar empire with over 700 employees, including restaurants, theaters, a wine label, and a hotel/ski resort.

Newsom served on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors from 1996 to 2004, where he earned an honor for his “Care Not Cash” initiative, reformed the city’s homeless policy by slashing cash benefits to the homeless.

On 4th November 2003, Gavin became the 42nd mayor of San Francisco and the youngest mayor of that city in over a century. Later, he made national headlines when he allowed same-sex couples to obtain marriage licenses on February 2004.

Recently, Newsom finished in the top two of the nonpartisan blanket primary defeating Republican, John H. Cox by a landslide in the gubernatorial election on November 2018. He is a member of Democratic Party along with Kamala Harris and Rahm Emanuel.

Gavin purchased a house in the Kentfield, California at the price of $5.995 Million on 6th February 2019. His house consists of five bedrooms, four full and two half bathrooms, based on 4,014 square feet.

Newsom’s house features an L-shaped combination living and dining room features a minimalist fireplace. Moreover, outside the bedrooms, on the second floor, there is a large sunny terrace, and the back of the house leads to a flat, grassy garden encircled by natural woods with swimming pool, wellness center, and dining room.

Gavin Newsom started dating his current wife, Jennifer Siebel, an actress in September 2006. Later, they announced their engagement on 29th December 2007. After a year, the couple married on 26th July 2008, in Stevensville, Montana.

Together, Newsom and his wife welcomed four children, Montana Tessa Newsom (born on 18th September 2009) and Hunter Siebel Newsom (12th July 2011). Further, their other kids are Brooklynn (born on 3rd July 2013) and Dutch Newsom (born on 26th February 2016).

Before his marriage with Siebel, Gavin married Kimberly Guilfoyle, a former prosecutor, and commentator. Unfortunately, the things didn’t work out in between Newsom and his former wife.  They filed for divorce citing difficulties due to their careers on opposite coasts in January 2005.
