Ingrid Caven was born on August 3, 1938, in Saarbrucken, Germany. Her birth name is Ingrid Schmidt and was born under the Zodiac sign of Leo. Ingrid grew up alongside her younger sister Trudeliese Schmidt who was an opera singer.

The couple dated for a year and tied the wedding knot in 1970. But their love did not last and the couple split in 1972. Even after the divorce, Ingrid acted in many of his films until the death of Rainer in 1982.
